August is a great month to celebrate our nationhood! Malaysia will be hosting the 29th SEA Games starting mid-August. The ‘My Merdeka’ exhibition at selected Mydin Hypermarkets celebrates the nation’s 60th anniversary of independence.

PUMA NIGHT RUN
(5 August; Cyberjaya)
A night run is way cooler so fitness enthusiasts, do give this a try! The categories are for 12 km and 6 km, and will flag off at 8.00 pm and 8.20 pm respectively. Partners include Sunway Putra Mall, 100 Plus and Lazada. For details, visit the website.
29th SEA GAMES — KUALA LUMPUR 2017
(19–31 August; Kuala Lumpur)
After 16 years, Malaysia is once again hosting the South East Asian Games. The sporting extravaganza’s 29th chapter will be a landmark occasion and a source of pride to all Malaysians.

INDIAN CLASSICAL DANCE DRAMA
(25 & 26 August; Malaysia Tourism Centre, Kuala Lumpur)
The Traditional Arts Showcase 2017 (PST2017) returns to entertain local and international fans in Kuala Lumpur. The Indian Classical Dance Drama is the second instalment of the PST2017 programme and will be performed by the Malaysia Performing Arts Society (ASTANA).
It has been organized by National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) for the past five years.

An exhibition in conjunction with the month-long ‘My Merdeka’ programme organized by the Information Department comprises booths set up at Mydin Malls in USJ1 (Selangor), Bukit Mertajam (Penang), Gong Badak (Terengganu), Ayer Keroh (Melaka) and Ipoh (Perak).
The booths display information and images chronicling events leading to the 60th anniversary of independence.
The programme is themed Negaraku Sehati Sejiwa, which is also the theme for this year’s National Day celebration.
It is aimed at educating the public about the importance of knowing Malaysia’s history, strengthening love for the country and fostering bonds among the different ethnic groups.
It is organized annually by the department as a build-up to National Day on 31 August and Malaysia Day on 16 September.

MATTA FAIR JOHOR BAHRU

RUNGUS PHOTOGRAPHY & ART EXHIBITION
(25 & 26 August; Kampung Matunggong, Kudat)
The Rungus Photography & Art Exhibition honours the efforts and contributions of photographers from the Rungus ethnic group of Sabah. Visitors can also enjoy traditional dance shows, a Rungus fashion show and a handicraft sale and exhibition. Don’t miss the Charity Dinner during which Rungus beauty queens, known as Gimpuhut, make an appearance. Be sure to sample the local brew they call Kinomol.

THE 18TH MALAYSIAN INTERNATIONAL FOOD & BEVERAGE TRADE FAIR

The Malaysian International Food & Beverage Trade Fair (MIFB) has been serving the food industry as the F&B business hub for 17 years. MIFB continues to play its role as a platform for the F&B industry players to introduce, exchange, and learn about the latest innovation and technologies from around the world.

KUALA LUMPUR FASHION WEEK READY TO WEAR 2017

The hip, glamorous event is back for another instalment. Celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, KLFW RTW 2017 will present an exciting mix of designers in the Malaysian capital over five highly anticipated days. Close to 150 designers will be showcasing their never-seen-before ‘Runway Collection’.
