Tanah Aina: Glamping Your Way through Nature

Journey of Love Back to Nature. These words proudly greet you at the gateway to Tanah Aina Fahad Glamping Resort
in Raub, Pahang. Located just a stone’s throw away from the famous waterfalls of Lata Jarum in Ulu Dong, you’ll be
filled with a sense peace as soon as you enter the grounds.

Tanah Aina Resorts are committed to promote ecotourism and implement ecologically friendly practices at their
numerous establishments. Their latest addition, Tanah Aina Fahad, is no exception. Putting the environment first and conserving its resources, while letting visitors experience natural attractions without forgoing comfort or convenience, are what this resort does best.

Glamour and luxury are not usually associated with outdoor pursuits, but at Tanah Aina Fahad these seemingly opposing ideas come together beautifully. The 8-acre resort embraces the concept of “glamping” or glamorous camping in a big way. This means you don’t necessarily have to rough it out to enjoy nature’s gifts. The range of accommodation offered here is a testament to this. Instead of chalets or rooms, guests choose from strategically set up and well-appointed tents. The scent of potpourri completes the ambience.

However, similar to a normal camping site, public bathrooms and toilet facilities are located just outside the camp. Chemical-free toiletries like shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are available in all bathrooms.

As for food and dining, guests will be treated to a first-class experience. Breakfast, lunch, tea and barbecue dinner are provided during your stay and you’ll get the chance to enjoy great food in a stunning natural setting. For a truly authentic experience, sample the various local dishes that take pride of place on the menu. And if you’re lucky, you might even get to enjoy the sweet taste of Pahang’s sensational seasonal King of Fruits, the durian.

To cater to adventurous guests who are keen to dive into challenging activities, the resort organizes guided jungle trekking programmes. Each session lasts for two hours, giving you ample time to get close to nature. Apart from that, you could choose to be part of a Real Jungle Paintball team, whose thrilling mission is to eliminate “opponents” with airguns.

But Tanah Aina Fahad is not just for outdoor adventure seekers. If you simply prefer to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature, then just dip your feet (or get fully soaked!) in the cool, pristine waters of Sungai Dong, the river which runs through the campsite. Additionally, the retreat is ideal for honeymooners or couples looking for a romantic getaway. The King and Queen Tents, for example, make the resort an excellent destination to escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Just across the main campsite is a large tree house. To get to this impressive structure, you have to cross a hanging bridge. Overcome your fear of heights and make your way across. The view that awaits you is totally worth it. You will also be rewarded with the soothing sounds of nature: crickets chirping and river flowing.

As attested by Tanah Aina Resorts founder, Kol Bersekutu (PA) Puan Sri To’ Puan Datuk Shariffa Sabrina Syed Akil, who is also President of a local conservation group, Pertubuhan Pelindung Khazanah Alam Malaysia (PEKA), plants and trees are precious living things that deserve our protection. The owner’s passion for sustainable tourism is reflected in how Tanah Aina Fahad is run. Instead of cutting down the rainforest to make way for infrastructure and amenities, the camp is built around trees. In fact, most of the décors are recycled or innovated from nature itself. For instance, the fountain at the resort’s main entrance is fed by water from the rivers and streams of Ulu Dong.
